A betting exchange is a marketplace where users set and take odds from each other rather than from a bookmaker. On Winmatch Exchange, a "back" bet says an outcome will happen and a "lay" bet says it won’t. Prices are shaped by supply and demand, and the exchange earns commission on net winnings.

Every market shows two sides of prices: the blue back column and the pink lay column. The amount next to each price is the money waiting to be matched there. Your bet is matched only when someone takes the opposite side, which is why the same event can look busy at one price and empty at another. The full mechanics, with worked rupee examples, are in how a betting exchange works.

Exchange vs Sportsbook

Choose the exchange when you want to lay, trade in-play or find market-driven prices. Choose the Winmatch Sportsbook for simple fixed odds and wider sport coverage (26 sports).

Exchange prices are often slightly bigger than fixed odds because there is no bookmaker margin built in, but you pay commission on net winnings instead. On lesser-known fixtures the exchange may have little money waiting, so the sportsbook can be the only practical way to bet at your stake.

Liquidity, matching and commission

Liquidity is the amount of money available to match at each price. Big events, such as an IPL final or a Premier League match, have deep markets with small gaps between back and lay prices. Small events have wide gaps and thin amounts, so a large bet may be only partly matched.

An unmatched bet stays in the market until someone takes it, you cancel it or the market is suspended. Commission is charged on your net winnings in a market, not on each bet, and nothing is charged on a losing market.
